Step 1: Choose and Cut Wood Pieces
0:30Pick wood scraps less than half an inch thick - the silicone coaster molds are about half-inch deep, so the wood needs to leave room for epoxy on top. Live-edge pieces facing each other create a 'mini river table' look in the finished coaster.
Curly hardwoods like bubinga, walnut, or maple show off best under clear epoxy because the figure pops. Cut pieces small enough to fit inside the mold cavity with about an eighth-inch gap around the edges for the resin to flow.
