Great for kids at Christmas.","totalDurationSeconds":407,"difficulty":"easy","tools":["black fine point permanent marker","scissors (optional)"],"materials":["drawing paper or sketch pad","colored pencils","black construction paper (optional)"],"steps":[{"number":1,"title":"Draw the Angel's Round Head and Big Eyes","text":"Draw a circle in the middle of your paper for the angel's head. It does not have to be round. A squished circle is fine. Inside it, draw two big circles side by side for her eyes. Add a tiny circle near the top of each eye for the shine, plus a smaller one at the bottom. Color the eyes in with your marker but leave those little circles white."},{"number":2,"title":"Add the Angel's Big Smile and Cheeks","text":"She is an angel, so she is happy. Draw a big curved smile under the eyes that stretches almost all the way across her face. Make it really big. Then draw a small circle at each end of the smile for her cheeks. Those little circles get colored pink later, so leave them empty for now. The face is done."},{"number":3,"title":"Draw the Angel's Bell-Shaped Dress","text":"Draw a curved line coming down out of one side of the head. It bends outward like the edge of a skirt. Draw a matching curve down the other side. Now connect the bottoms of the two curves with a line across. You end up with a bell shape under the head. That is the angel's dress, and it is also her whole body."},{"number":4,"title":"Draw the Angel's Arms and Circle Hands","text":"Draw a short line coming out of the side of the dress for one arm. Put a small circle on the end for her hand. That is the easiest way to draw a hand. On the other side, draw a line coming down inside the dress for the second arm, with another little circle at the bottom. Now she has two little hands."},{"number":5,"title":"Draw the Angel's Legs and Oval Feet","text":"Draw two short lines coming out of the bottom of the dress for her legs. Leave a little space between them. Then draw a small oval at the bottom of each leg for her feet. Turn the ovals slightly outward so the feet point away from each other. The whole body is finished now, and she already looks like a little person."},{"number":6,"title":"Draw the Angel's Hair Over Her Head","text":"Right now she looks a little bald. Draw a big upside-down U, like a rainbow, that goes over the top of her head with a small gap all around. Then draw a line from each end of the rainbow down into the dress. That connects the hair to her body, so it looks like long hair or a hood framing her face."},{"number":7,"title":"Draw the Angel's Two Bumpy Wings","text":"Draw a diagonal line coming up and out from the side of her head. Then draw a bumpy line from the top of it back down to the dress. Little bump, big bump, little bump, big bump, all the way down. That is one wing. Do the same on the other side. Make the wings big. One can be a little smaller and that is okay."},{"number":8,"title":"Draw the Angel's Halo Above Her Head","text":"What is she missing? Her halo. Draw a flat, squashed oval floating above her head. It looks like a ring seen from the side. Leave some white space between the halo and her hair so it looks like it hovers. This is the one detail that tells everyone she is an angel, so do not skip it."},{"number":9,"title":"Draw Stars Around the Angel","text":"She is flying up in the sky, so it is night time. Draw five-point stars all around her. Put some above her halo, some beside her wings and a few near her feet. Big ones, small ones, it does not matter. If you have not drawn a star before, this is a great place to practice, because a dozen of them fill the page."},{"number":10,"title":"Color the Angel With Colored Pencils","text":"Put the markers away and grab colored pencils. Color the halo and stars yellow, the face peach, the cheeks pink and the hair any color you like. You can leave the dress and wings white. Trace the outline again with your marker to make it thick, and add little lines by the wings so they look like they are flapping."}],"recipe":null,"lastUpdated":"2026-10-03T16:46:09.504Z","published":"2026-10-03T16:46:05.419Z","license":"CC BY 4.0.
